Gmail Hacked, Friends Email hacked, time to get secure

I Love Gmail…  LOVE Gmail. I use it everyday!!

I have it, lots of friends have it, and even my parents.  When my parents use a service, I can guarantee you its ease of use.  Anyway, it’s all being HACKED!!..  Gmail, hotmail, yahoo, all of them.  Lot’s of Viagra Pushers out there, and they want you to buy!

So why Care?  Well, your main email gets hacked, well, you’re pretty screwed and pretty fast will things get out of hand.  Let’s take me for example.  Get into my main email, you can do a search for all kinds of websites including Bank sites and see what I registered with, just search for “thank you for registering” ALL KINDS of emails will come up.  Then they know all kinds of sites your email and password will work on.  If you remember when Gawker got their servers hacked a while back, I was one of the accounts that got hacked.  It was one of my less secure passwords but hacked none-the-less.  How did I know?  The night it happened, I was already twittering about buying acai berry supplements to my friends.  I just figured my twitter account was hacked and didn’t know about Gawker at all yet.  It was almost impossible to remember where all I have used that email and password combo.  Turns out, a LOT OF SITES.  Especially stuff you can’t remember, like that time you were wasted in college and registered at papajohns.com to order a pizza because you lost your phone at the bar.  You’re credit card is tied to ALL kind of sites you don’t remember.

So what do you do?  Secure that shit up!!!  Yes, I cursed to get your attention!  You need a separate password for your email then any other site.  No, you can’t use you cats/dogs name and whatever you use, you need to symbol that up!!  Example.  you were born in September, and you want that as your pass, that’s fine, but now you need to symbol and number that.  Let’s do September and Me, easy to remember, but now with symbols and number and capitols looks like this S3pt3mB3r@M3!    After that, you read this article and set up two factor authentication!

Ensuring your information is safe online 6/01/2011 12:42:00 PM The Internet has been an amazing force for good in the world—opening up communications, boosting economic growth and promoting free expression. But like all technologies, it can also be used for bad things. Today, despite the efforts of Internet companies and the security community, identity theft, fraud and the hijacking of people’s email accounts are common problems online.
