Great Logic

May 8, 2008 by

Okay, I don’t mean to do two political posts in one day, but I just saw something on Hardball (insert funny Dqyle joke here) with Chris Matthews that this guy, Howard Wolfson, who is Hillary’s campaign communication’s director said that I just have to comment on.  If you are interested, check it out.

Some background information first for y2ker political newbies: the Democratic National Committee decided a long time ago that primary votes from Flordia and Michigan would not count because those states decided to move up their primaries.  No candidates campaigned in either state, by agreement, and in the case of Michigan, Hillary Clinton was the only name on the Democratic ballot.  Since the rest of the primaries started going Obama’s way, the Clinton camp has been lobbying for counting the votes from those states because Hillary won both.  So, Mr. Wolfson”s answer to Chris Matthew’s question about how Hillary get the nomination now involved adding the votes Hillary will get in Puerto Rico’s primary (assuming she is going to win) to her current popular vote total, as well as counting her popular votes from Florida and Michigan.  When Matthews said something to the effect of “you would be willing to count votes that wouldn’t even count in the National Election to get your candidate the nomination,” Wolfson said something to the effect of “well, the Democratic National Committee has a primary there, so of course we will count them.”  Now, the obvious next question, which I was sure Mr. Hardball Chris Matthews would ask, but he didn’t is this: THE DNC DECIDED NOT TO COUNT THE VOTES FROM MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA BUT YOU WANT TO COUNT THEM RIGHT?  That makes sense
